7th Grade Curriculum
Religion
Students delve into Catholic Doctrine with a study of the Commandments, Conscience, Mercy and Good Works
Reading and Language Arts
Students continue to grow their critical thinking and analysis skills while reinforcing grammar and punctuation by writing a variety of essays and quarterly book reports with books like "The Hobbit" and "Forget Not Love: The Passion of Maximilian Kolbe. Students also build public speaking skills, telephone courtesy and dig into the art of Drama
Arithmetic
Students review their geometric and algebraic reasoning skills. They will learn how to add, subtract and multiplying fractions, equivalent fractions, the metric system, repeating decimals, scientific notation, Pi, graphic inequalities, multiplying algebraic terms, the Pythagorean Theorem, and the slope-intercept form of linear equations
Social Studies
Students explore the advent of Jesus through the achievements of Christendom, to the threshold of the enlightenment and the 18th century. Students will learn how God's work in history has and continues to reveal itself
Science
Students explore scientific methods in earth science, topography, oceanography, meteorology, geology, astronomy and technology
Latin
Students learn the six tenses of first and second conjugation verbs, review noun syntax, all five noun declensions, adjectives, cardinal numbers 1-10 and basic Catholic prayer, derivatives and Latin sayings
Physical Education
Students are taught the virtues of charity, sportsmanship, and patience as well as social interaction through two-handed touch football, handball, soccer, dodgeball and a variety of other sports
Music
Students learn the basics of Gregorian Chant and practice reciting Latin hymns
Art
Students engage in interdisciplinary art projects throughout their courses
